Get together with some friends and
train for the exercises, which will
appear in the next few “Line Dance
Blogs”. Send in your comments, if
you have questions. Once the series is
finished – get someone to film your
team and send it in to us –
YOU’LL WIN A PRIZE !!!
Here we
start:
So you
think you
can dance…
I’m sure you
have at least
heard of this TV
program? Well –
when I tell people about my latest book “From
Leading to Liberty”, they all tell me right
away that they DO know how to lead their
horses. But when we lead, and what we mean
by leading, is a bit different from what you
might be acquainted with. When we lead – we
dance!
We lead with body language, rope and whip
aids and voice commands – but ALL on a slack
rope! This is where the “difference” starts! I
challenge you to perform a little dance with
your horses on the slack rope – you and two of
your friends together (because we like playing
in groups)
The first to send in a complete film will win
a prize!

Line Dance Blogs – Set-up
Review the required body language in Game 1
(page 36 of “Leading to Liberty”).
Get three people with horses together and some
snappy music (but not too fast!) with a count on
eight. Learn in steps – you’ll get the dance in
installments and can learn slowly – but don’t
cheat on the slack rope! Otherwise you miss
the point of the entire exercise…
Line Dancing by Jutta WiemersImagine 5000 spectators, all sitting on the
South side of the arena… start counting the
eight-beat once the first horse is safely through
the door of the show arena (place two cones
there if outside).
Unless the dance requires a circle, you are
either performing on a line from West to East
or North – South – never cross-country!! It is a
line dance in the good old Western tradition!
That is one of the severe challenges of the
game – you must be precise!
So – Horse A, B and C are patiently waiting
at the door – next time we start !
