Liberty part 4 by Jutta Wiemers

The more you know the more you will see:
Only by learning more about your horses can
you begin to see what they are saying to you –
and you might well be astonished to realise how
much they ‘talk’ once they have the feeling that a
friend is really listening! My Peter very politely
indicates that the lesson has been long enough by
sinking into the curtsey – Beau however, when
indoors, walks to the light switch and puts his
nose on it: lights out! Let’s go home!
‘Liberty’ is a dialogue between friends!
Of course all above mentioned points are not
only true for liberty work – but liberty work will
not be successful without them – when the rope
is off, it is impossible to fake a good
relationship, which does not exist!
• Once you are a good leader and the horse
trusts you, you will have no more spooking
problems (unless you spook first), no more
injuries and a happy horse, who feels safe
with you!
• Once you understand your horse’s mood and
the underlying reasons (so you can prepare
your work or play sessions adequately)
frustration is avoided!
• Once your body language is clear and you
know the rules for effective training your
horse can understand what you want and
will always have a feeling of success.
Therefore learning is fun and stressfree.
