Passier Andrew Hoy Eventing Saddle 27.5 width 17.5 inch seat
Hi Kirstin,
Finally my mare is back from holiday and I have been able to try the saddle. I could hardly get the girth done up, because she has put on quite a bit of weight with all the rich Normandy grass! I have just been able to do a little bit to bring her back gently, and yesterday tried the first canter circles, and I can tell you I am very pleased!
The saddle seems to fit well, is square and centered and gives good clearance for the spine and freedom for the shoulders. Normally I would put a pad under the old saddle, but the Passier sits perfectly with just a simple saddle cloth. And what a difference when riding – I feel more balanced and centered, but still close to the horse. It is easier to stay with the horse and use the seat and legs more efficiently. I now notice that the old saddle was tilting backwards and thus I had trouble trying to stay with the movement in canter. And what’s most important, my mare seems to go well under the saddle and be happy and supple and more balanced. I am very excited about this and really looking forward to our first jumping lesson next week and the new season!
And of course, the Passier Hoy in havana looks very smart, so everybody at the yard is jealous!
