Open Training day at Ingrid Klimkes on 21st June 2011

We did a short trip to Germany, precisely to Münster, on the 21st of June 2011 to attend the Open Training by Ingrid Klimke. From 9 am to 12.30 pm Ingrid Klimke shows around 30 people how she trains horses in her yard. To begin with she introduced all horses and staff members and provides details on each horse, such as breeding, stage of education and age as well as owners and background. Problem horse & solution

Read entire article »

Begin with Leading exercises by Jutta Wiemers 4th April 2011

Jutta Wiemers’ website In our training series we begin with leading exercises. Rule number One is to never PULL on a rope – the horse will only counter-pull! As a matter of fact a rope is not even needed, as the horse takes his cues from your body language and your position relative to him. Chels and Beau here are playing – they are in “partner position”! In games like the “bucket slalom” your horse can learn peppy starts and … Read entire article »

Jutta Wiemers:

Jutta Wiemers:

Jutta Wiemers’ website My background is vaulting, which in my opinion is still the very best way to start with any equestrian activity! I began vaulting at age ten and was active as a vaulter and then trainer for the next 40 years. Vaulting teaches you to balance. The necessary stretching makes you limber – and the result is confidence, because you know that falling off the horse means landing on the ground, but it does not … Read entire article »

It is all about trust or what to do with youngsters- book recommendation

PURCHASE THIS BOOK HERE Does this look dangerous? Perhabs… but why do we have horses and enjoy so much being busy with them? It is probably all down to trust. We have come across this fantastic book by Jutta Wiemers at BETA at the J.A. Allan stand. J.A. Allan has a long tradition of publishing and especially publishing books, which might otherwise never be available to the “horse riding public”. I am also personally thankful for their … Read entire article »

Recommended Books

My all-time favorite book on the subject of dressage is “The Fundamentals of Dressage” by Alfred Knopfhart, which fell into my hands when I was about 10 years old. It did require a dictionary for me than and it took me a long time to read through it, but it is one of the most brilliant books I have ever read. It is written in a very academical way, but is so well structured that … Read entire article »
